The Future: evolution from humans into cyber-humans, transhumanism

Image
I came across some interesting ideas on the future of mankind in a book about the supermodel Kate Moss, by Christian Salmon,* which featured this picture of her: Salmon says:   "In this image knocked together on the Internet, the visible body is fused with the written body.  The technique of morphing has created a written and coded cyborg-body.   The cyborg's stock of images expresses the ideal of limitless individual mutability beyond distinctions of gender, character, and species.”    He also writes:  “Fashion is experimenting with new relationships to the body, gender, and race. Google establishes the hierarchy of deities on the Web and draws their navigation maps.  Kate Moss is one of Google's unquestioned goddesses, a Calypso with mysterious powers to captivate or a modern Daphne who is able to metamorphose so as to escape her media hounds.  The Kate Moss myth defies time through metamorphosis. "The individual who brought the i...

Nasa-funded study:  The civilized world is headed for collapse http://www.theguardian.com/environment/earth-insight/2014/mar/14/nasa-civilisation-irreversible-collapse-study-scientists  "The fall of the Roman Empire, and the equally (if not more) advanced Han, Mauryan, and Gupta Empires, as well as so many advanced Mesopotamian Empires, are all testimony to the fact that advanced, sophisticated, complex, and creative civilizations can be both fragile and impermanent." This is common sense, any student of history should know that the rise and fall of every nation, even America, is inevitable.  And it should be compulsory for every school student to study world history so that they learn the patterns and learn from the mistakes of our ancestors. The authors of this study have taken a general truth, and a widely suspected truth, and used it to promote their own agenda.  What conclusions do they come to? a) Our consumption of the world's limited resources...

Hateful "Christians"

Image
Many people call themselves Christians but do not follow or obey God's laws in the Bible.  What are the most fundamental rules God gives us? 1.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and soul (Deuteronomy 6:5). 2.  Love your neighbour as yourself.  (Leviticus 19:18). Jesus said these are the two greatest commandments, and all God's laws and the writings of the prophets (the Old Testament of the Bible) - hang on these two commands.  (Matthew 22:34-40) Anybody, therefore, who calls themselves a Christian but is openly hateful towards others, is disobeying God and will be judged by God for this. This ATLAH church uses the Bible to defend its view that Jesus would stone "homos".  I have no idea how they could come to that conclusion from John 8:1-11.  This passage tells the story of Jesus and a woman caught in adultery.  The teachers of the Law brought this woman to Jesus, because they wanted to trap him.  They said to ...

How would our lives change if we lost electrical power long-term?

Image
"...the consequences would be apocalyptic. There is no other word to describe the death of modern civilization that would follow the long-term loss of electricity. Mankind would say goodbye to lights, refrigerators, furnaces, water from pipes, sewage disposal, trash removal, television, Internet, telephones, computers, hospitals, pharmacies, credit cards, banks, grocery stores, gasoline stations, automobiles, trains, air travel, and police protection."   - G Edward Griffin Reading this article by Mr Griffin I was struck by the reality of how dependent we are on electricity.  We take these things for granted to be always there, because they have been always there as long as we remember.  But what if we lost them? What does God say is going to happen? "The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire.  They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control o...

Mistresses: "You don't get to choose who you love."

Image
Mistresses is a US TV show which premiered on June 3, 2013, and is a remake of the British series of the same name.  It's about four friends and their involvement in complex and of course, adulterous sexual relationships. "You don't get to chose who you love."  This is a quote by Yunjin Kim, one of the show's actresses, giving her opinion in an interview on her character.  Shortly after reading this I saw another review on the show in which actress Jes Macallan also declares:  "You can't help who you love." Yunjin Kim This got me thinking about their point of view.  They seem to be saying:   "Yes, adultery isn't such a good thing, but it happens, a lot - so at the end of the day we have no control over it and should accept it.  It's an understandable thing because we can't control who we fall in love with or who we end up having sex with so we are not to blame nor to be held responsible for any wrong-doing." I disagre...

Iranian cleric: "We could put down Israel in two weeks"

Image
BY: Adam Kredo A top Iranian lawmaker and cleric said that the country’s uranium enrichment program could allow it to build a nuclear weapon “in two weeks” in order to “put down Israel,” according to multiple reports in the Farsi language press. Iranian lawmaker and cleric Muhammad Nabavian said on Friday that Iran would be able to build a nuclear bomb in “two weeks” if it gets “access to 270 kilograms of 20 percent [enriched uranium], 10 tons of 5 percent, and 20 thousand centrifuges,” according to reports on Iran’s Radio Farda and in Fararu . “We are not looking for a nuclear bomb, but having a nuclear bomb is necessary to put down Israel,” Nabavian said, according to an independent translation of his remarks provided to the Washington Free Beacon . Nabavian went on to claim that President Barack Obama had courted Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in the lead up to nuclear negotiations with the West last year. Nabavian said Rouhani revealed in a ...
